Ready – steady – GO! AI Marketplace Platform goes live

Post challenges, find solutions, gather know-how: all this is promised by the AI Marketplace – the digital platform for tomorrow’s innovations. For the past year, experts from science and industry have been working on a platform for artificial intelligence in product development. With success: on March 26, 2021, the platform went live.

“With the AI Marketplace, we offer companies a central place to solve their challenges in product creation with the help of AI. And AI providers get direct access to their customers this way,” explains Leon Özcan, project coordinator and research associate Heinz Nixdorf Institute at Paderborn University. On March 26, the AI Marketplace presented its platform to the public. In addition to a live demo of the platform, the guests were treated to exciting keynotes and contributions on current AI trends and other offerings of the AI Marketplace. Various players, industry representatives, AI providers and consulting firms had their say.

That’s what we’ve got in store

The AI Marketplace platform will be gradually extended by functionalities in the course of the project. Initially, users will be offered a matching function: Companies can post challenges here, for example, while AI providers create competence profiles. A subsequent matching of challenges with competence profiles brings together suitable platform actors, who can now jointly develop solutions.

The next step is to create a protected data room for development and test data in order to continuously improve AI applications and adapt them to customer needs. Here, the AI marketplace relies on certified standards that ensure data sovereignty and at the same time form the basis for fair cooperation.

Ulrich Ahle, CEO of the FIWARE Foundation, outlines the vision of the project: “The AI Marketplace will revolutionize the development of new products, especially in medium-sized companies. Artificial intelligence will be made usable, data will be made more usable. Because data is the gold of the 21st century and the AI Marketplace, like other marketplaces, will change product creation.”

This is what the AI Marketplace is all about

With the AI Marketplace, we are creating a unique ecosystem nationwide since the beginning of 2020, with which companies can tap the potential of AI in product creation. The linchpin of the AI Marketplace is the platform of the same name, where providers, users and experts can develop and exchange solutions for AI. The vision is a marketplace that offers intelligent matching as well as a protected space for secure data exchange and data sovereignty. This is to be supplemented by an app store for AI solutions and a range of standardized AI building blocks that can be combined as required and used to develop new AI solutions. The success is guaranteed by the project consortium of 19 research institutions, networks and companies.

The AI Marketplace project is funded from January 2020 to December 2022 in the innovation competition “Artificial Intelligence as a Driver for Economically Relevant Ecosystems” of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).
