The levers for improvement can already be found in the engineering of products and processes. In the AI Marketplace, we are showing which approaches are promising with a new campaign “Sustainability through AI in engineering”.

With the new campaign “Sustainability through AI in engineering”, the AI Marketplace wants to draw attention to the fact that the use of AI technologies in engineering is already setting the course for more sustainability. “AI can, for example, help to reduce the CO2 emissions of a product by 30-40% by simulating emission loads based on data from the past and optimising future products accordingly,” explains Nick Schreiner, research associate at Fraunhofer IEM.

It is also possible to predict the energy efficiency of products with the help of machine learning and thus, for example, select the most efficient product components during development. In this way, companies also receive more information about the actual energy consumption of their products.

Implementing concrete use cases with the AI Marketplace

However, the AI Marketplace does not only want to inform and sensitise about such potentials, but also offers companies to find concrete use cases in their own companies. With the help of a potential analysis, possible use cases around AI for sustainable engineering are developed together with the company and solutions are proposed.

This is also where the AI Marketplace platform comes into play: the identified use cases can be sent as challenges to the AI Marketplace team and worked on together with a suitable AI provider.

“We want to offer SMEs in particular a low-threshold entry into the topics of AI, engineering and sustainability,” says Leon Özcan, project coordinator. “The AI Marketplace is the ideal platform to discover AI solutions for your own engineering and to implement them together with solution providers.”

See our campaign

In the AI Marketplace, we are showing levers for more sustainable engineering with a new campaign.

[1,3
post-6357","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-allgemein","category-news

Sustainability and engineering - how do they go together? »
